Yes. Meal Plans are diets. They should be individualized based on the client’s medical conditions, preferences, and goals, and more importantly, prescribed by a dietitian. Clients in our program do not count calories or have to figure out what to eat on their own. Instead, we do all the work so they can enjoy their meals and results.

The main difference comes down to education and the scope of practice. A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a designation for a nutrition professional who has received a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in nutrition and dietetics (and in most cases a Master’s Degree). Dietitians have completed a dietetic internship consisting of over a thousand hours of supervised practice, passed an entrance exam, and obtained a license to practice in their state(s). Continuing education hours are required to maintain our credentials, like physicians and nurses. Dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy, treating and managing diseases and other conditions. A nutritionist may complete a degree in nutrition, but does not have the same amount of extensive post-baccalaureate regulatory education. They are not able to diagnose, treat, or provide medical nutrition advice.
